Endorsement Policy

The Kane County Democratic Women (KCDW) Endorsement Policy Requirements

Kane County Democratic Women of Illinois hereby establishes in writing our endorsement policy and guidelines for the acceptable criteria required by our organization (see page two). The endorsement if so given, is for any paid member in good standing running for office in a primary or general election.

Please review the following criteria carefully. Fill out and sign the form and return by mail. If you have a question, email all inquiry to KCDW Chair Carolyn Bird Salazar at kcdw@kcdwomen.com. (Note: Filling out the form is not endorsement, but subject to board approval.)

Criteria for endorsement

1. Commitment to women’s rights and gender equality: The candidate should have a demonstrated record of advocating for and supporting women’s rights, gender equality, and issues important to women.
2. Policy alignment: The candidate’s platform and proposed policies should align with the organization’s priorities, including but not limited to reproductive rights, healthcare access, economic equity, education, and combating gender-based violence.
3. Track record on women’s issues: The candidate’s past actions, voting record (if applicable), and public statements on women’s issues should reflect a genuine commitment to advancing women’s rights and interests.
4. Inclusivity and diversity: The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and diversity, both in their campaign team and in their approach to governance.
5. Integrity and ethical conduct: The candidate should uphold ethical standards and demonstrate integrity in their personal and professional conduct.

Use of endorsement and logo

The following restrictions help KCDW protect our brand.

1. Prohibit the use of the logo without explicit permission.
2. Mandate that the logo cannot be altered or modified in any way when used for endorsement.
3. Prohibit the use of the logo in conjunction with any content that could be construed as divisive.
