Democrats throughout the U.S. know how important the upcoming 2022 primary and November election are to the continuation of democracy in the U.S. Keeping democrats in the state legislatures, the U.S. House of Representatives, and Senate is the primary objective of democrats throughout our nation, and we are willing to put forth our best efforts daily to meet that goal.
Fortunately, many of our state and national candidates are members of KCDW, and we support these candidates by circulating petitions for them, sending out postcards to remind democrats to vote for them, marching in parades with our candidates, and making phone calls to help them get elected.
The members of KCDW are meeting in person this year, and we have monthly speakers who educate us and help us define ways to support our candidates. In addition, local candidates also attend our meetings to discuss the issues and answer questions. Our speaker at the next meeting will be Illinois State Senator Cristina Castro.
As we learned from the 2020 election, when many democrats work together and let our votes count, there is change in Kane County, the state of Illinois, and the nation. To think about the effects of that change, consider the position of Kane County, which under Corinne Pierog’s leadership mobilized the vaccination centers and is now moving toward green energy and expanding mental health programs for residents. And think about the differences that J.B. Pritzker has brought to Illinois in a short time by restoring the budget to help low income families while bringing Illinois back from the brink of the bankruptcy, which occurred under Bruce Rauner.
Most importantly, consider the position of the U.S. and the world at this point in history if Trump had remained in the White House. Would there be a united NATO and world support for Ukraine, which gives the Ukrainians a fighting chance to save their country? Even though it may seem sometimes that our efforts aren’t enough to bring about change in the world, those efforts are compounded by the work of democrats throughout our state and nation. We must join hands and work together for the common good of our country.
