Last night the U.S. Senate voted on a $1 trillion dollar infrastructure plan. In a statement President Biden said, “ This deal signals to the world that our democracy can function, deliver, and do big things.” If enacted the bipartisan bill would secure funding locally for community projects across Congresswoman Lauren Underwood’s 14th District, bringing $10.5 million in federal investment. Underwood, who sits on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, made this announcement recently in a July 19th press release.
While the president conceded neither side got everything they wanted, the deal would make significant investments in public transit, funding for roads and bridges, and inject big investments in rail and freight lines. The bill now advances to the U.S. House of Representatives where it still faces stiff challenges. CLICK HERE to read the full White House Press Release.
